Planning the 1st B-day Party

1st B-day1st B-dayHomegrown1st B-dayGo Dad !Baby and PuppyBaby Crown

Planning the first Birthday Party was the easy part.  The actual execution?  Well, lets just say it was a little harder than I thought.  The set up, the breakdown, by the time it was all over and the final cleanup was complete I was exhausted.  I have a strange feeling the baby will remember nothing, but surviving your first year is cause for celebration.  After thinking of all the pros and cons of having the party at my home,  I decided to have the party at a park alongside Lake Washington.  The day was beautiful and sunny, perfect for a picnic party.

Let’s talk about the highlights…

Everything looked great; the food, cupcakes, and all the party favors turned out just as planned.  The sun was out and the set up was relatively easy (other than my husband having to drag a heavy picnic table across the park).  Tate’s guests all came and the kids all had fun.  I made a few amateur mistakes, but in time I will get this party throwing thing down, after all, I have many more birthday parties in my future.

Things I would have done differently…

First, I would have allowed myself more time to get ready, I was really sweatin’ it getting myself ready and setting up.  I would have enlisted more help, this is a mistake I make often.  I would stop fussing and running around so I too, could enjoy the party.  Next year wine will be served, I could have used one, that’s for sure!  I will also not do the following…

Order too much food

Tangle the balloons (bummer)

Cupcake pushing

Be the photographer, party planner, and host…Pick one!!

After all was said and done, the baby was happy, the guests had fun, and I managed to push most of the leftovers on to others.  Next year I will have a small mellow affair, take all the advice I was given by my mom friends, and focus on having fun myself :)

Till next year …

Edgy Chic, Friday Favorites

Fall is my favorite time to shop

As the Fall deliveries start flowing in, it’s time to get some key pieces for your wardrobe.  There are so many things that I am totally obsessing over.  I am trying to figure out how I can get them into my life without my husband looking at any credit card statements :)  Let’s get started…

1.  These tie dye pumps by Alyse Walker are insane!!  With a crop skinny, that’s money.

2.  Isabel Marant wedge sneakers, you can rock these babies all day long.

3.  Okay, I need this Isabel Marant leather jacket.  The crop sleeves allow you to show off all your arm bling.

4.  I love this dress, so simple, so chic, Isabel Marant.

5.  These sunglasses could actually be worn at night, just kidding, sunglasses in the evening…bad idea.

6.  No words, just total Radness, Givenchy.

7.  Take care of these and you can rock forever, Giavito Rossi.

8.  How can I convince my husband that this could work as a diaper bag?  Jerome Dreyfuss.

9.  This top paired with cropped skinnys and the tie dye pumps, awesome.  NSF.

10.  Grey Chic cashmere wrap sweater, done and done, Vince.

11.  This classic McQ scarf is a must, especialy this color way.

12.  A gold razor wrap bracelet, perfection. McQ.

13.  Yes, clearly I love Isabel Marant, and this classic boyfriend blazer.

14.  This top under any black blazer or leather jacket would look hot, Red Valentino.

15.  I am always a sucker for cropped jeans, especially if you want to show off my hot shoes, NSF.

16.  I have last seasons version, and let me tell you they hold up really well and still look new, Citizens for Humanity.

All of these hot pieces are from Elyse Walker, if she had a store in Seattle I would be in serious debt.  All of the above selections can be mixed and matched together or with items you may already have in the closet.

I will share the pieces I ordered next week, have an awesome weekend.

Cheers,

It’s still summer babe

As summer winds down,  here are some cool chic pieces that will move gracefully into fall, no problem.

1. I love a good button down, this top can easily go under a blazer for fall.

2. Skinny distressed jeans work all year long.

3. I love this necklace, turquoise is not just for summer anymore.

4. This cool denim dress can be paired with sandals now, and tall boots for fall.

5. I love these earrings, all year round baby.

6. Cool b-low the belt  waist bag, hands free is always good for me.

7. I am obsessed with these glasses.

8. Janessa Leone, get’s it right every time.

9. This is a cool tote, for beach or baby.

10. These heals are so hot, I love the color.

11. This Enza Costa Dress is sexy for all seasons, pair with slides or sandals.

12. These denim shorts are flattering on most body types, everyone needs a good pair of denim shorts.

Try some of these favorites and give me your feed back. I am going for the Enza Costa dress, and the waist bag. I will keep you posted…

Strollin’ with the Orbit

Cozyorbit 2orbit stroller

Another day out rollin’ with my little homie.

I have a few strollers, but the big investment I made was the Orbit G-3.  There are many bells and whistles with this stroller.  The main feature is the infant seat and stroller seat rotate around, I love this feature especially when putting it in the car and dining out.  It was great to use when the baby was too small for a high chair.  I recommend this ride more for leisurely strolls and shopping.  There are many components and add-on’s to complete this stroller.

I purchased the Orbit as a package on Amazon and recommend this approach.  All of the pieces are sold separately.  This way I got everything I needed, with only a few add-ons.  When purchasing as a package, I ended up saving money – yeah!  The only downside for me was the storage below was not that big, just in case you want to ditch the diaper bag for the day.

Happy Orbit shopping…

My Top 8 Tees

These 8 Tee’s will keep you lookin’ cool, and start a few conversations.

I am a big t-shirt girl, especially if there is a special detail or graphic. You can wear them with jeans, or under a blazer depending on the tee. I have retailed and personally purchased a few of the brands above. The Current/Elliot tees are a little more in price but the quality is there. I have both colors of the Fine Line bow tie tee and  love them. I suggest ordering a size down, because they run big. I am going to try the Eleven Paris Kate Moss, and the Sincerely Jules tee’s next.  I will keep you posted…

Do you want beautiful skin ?

Skin Tonic Juice

While cruising through Whole Foods, I noticed the new magazine, Naturally, by Green Living expert, Danny Seo.  I just started to get back into juicing and the beautiful cover with the top 12 juice & smoothie superstars, roped me in.

I tried 2 of the 12 recipes, the skin tonic juice for me, and the apple, strawberry and lime for my son, Tatum.  Both were super good and easy to make, plus there were not too many ingredients, which is a plus for me.  To get started, I dusted off my Breville juice fountain elite I purchased it through Amazon. Its a pretty powerful juicer, I have really liked how easy it is to use.  The only downside to juicing for me is the clean up, ah the clean up.  I guess since I am always cleaning something up in my kitchen, what’s one more thing?  I shared the recipes below, and if you get a chance check out the new Naturally magazine, a good read with ton’s of good recipes.
